Cookies

Legal basis

The basis for the cookie notice is the amended Electronic Communications Act (Official Gazette No. 109/2012; in short ZEKom-1), which entered into force at the beginning of 2013 and introduced new rules on the use of cookies and similar technologies to store or access information stored on a user’s computer or mobile device.

What are cookies and why does a website need them

A cookie is a small text file that is downloaded to a user’s computer when they visit a website and usually contains:

  • the name of the server from which the cookie was sent;
  • the lifetime of the cookie;
  • the value – usually a randomly generated unique number.

The cookie itself does not contain or collect information. However, if it is read by a server in conjunction with a web browser, it may help the website to provide a more user-friendly service – for example, by remembering a user’s previous purchases or account details. Only the server that sent the cookie can read and use the cookie.

On a trusted website, cookies can enrich the experience. However, cookies may also be used in ways that infringe an individual’s privacy. Cookies can be stored for different lengths of time, for the duration of a browsing session or for much longer.

Which cookies we use on the site and why

We only use cookies on the site that are permitted under the ZEKom-1 act. Only cookies that are strictly necessary for the operation of this website are used. For the purpose of recording statistics on the website, we use a system that only records the session cookie and does not track your further behaviour on the website or in connection with other websites. By continuing to use this website, you agree to the use of the cookies described below.
