Friction Stir Welding

Advanced welding technology without melting

FSW (Friction Stir Welding) is a solid-state welding process in which the material is plastically mixed by a rotating tool – without melting and without filler material. The result is extremely strong, gas-tight and water-tight joints without porosity, cracks or significant deformation.

Welding of different materials

At KGL, we provide FSW welding of aluminium, steel and copper components.

Advantages for demanding applications

FSW provides:

  • high joint strength comparable to the base material,
  • minimal deformation due to low heat input,
  • excellent repeatability through CNC control,
  • an environmentally friendly process without fumes and UV radiation.

Quality control and reliability

Every weld is visually inspected, and when required, we also perform leak tests, ultrasonic inspections and mechanical tests in our laboratory. This ensures reliable joints for the most demanding industries.
